The hotel is in a lovely location, very idyllic. We used to live not far from it and often enjoyed a Sunday Lunch there. Some wonderful improvements have been made in the 8 years since we moved away, the décor of the pub and the garden are just beautiful, the hard work that's gone in to it is very clear for all to see. Our room was large, comfortable and exceptionally clean with lots of sensible storage for clothes/luggage etc. Nicely laid out with tea and coffee making faculties plus fresh bottled water daily. It's an old building and we loved the fact that the floors were uneven and the drains so old and noisy, it added an authentic charm to the place. We didn't have breakfast during our stay because of early morning departures. However, if dinner was anything to go by then it would have been fabulous. Excellent variety of menu choices and was also utterly delicious. There's a wonderful atmosphere in the pub, a the staff were so friendly and helpful, not ingratiatingly so, they just really seemed to enjoy making sure the guests were all happy. Everyone had a fantastic work ethic and there was an easy atmosphere created by that culture. Service was prompt, efficient and given with a genuine smile, which makes such a difference. The hotel advertises itself as "dog friendly" and they didn't just pay lip service to it. We didn't take our dogs but were really heartened to see the way the staff catered for the dogs too. With so many village pubs closing down, how nice it was to see the locals using the pub. The owners should be so proud of what they have achieved. All in all a wonderful stay and we would love to stay there again.

I can't sing the praises enough of the staff, we had a bad accident with our rental care right by the Arms in which my wife was injured and needed emergency services. The staff made calls for me to the police and the ambulance service. In addition they iced my wife's broken arm and even found an emergency nurse in the neighborhood who could do an initial assessment of my wife. Oh yes they also got a group of neighbors to move our rental car off of the small road that the car was partially blocking. Finally as we drove away in the ambulance, they took charge of our luggage that we left behind and even offered to deliver our luggage to our next hotel. Truly a remarkable response. We are so grateful.

We stayed at the venue with our daughter with her family and used it as a base for visiting my mother in law in Sherborne and a cousin of mine who lives at Burton Bradstock. It was very easy to visit both on different days. The room was adequate for our needs and the food and beer were excellent. My only concern was that there were only Pizzas as a choice for the Saturday evening meal, a typical pub meal would have been good as well, such as a meat pie and chips. Breakfast was well catered for, with a spread for everyone ton take what they liked from. We are planning to come and stay again next year to visit the same relations again, we just need to finalise the details nearer the time.

The pub has a lovely cosy feel to it with lots of interesting seating areas and fairy lights. There was plenty of space in the car park and the pub was lovely and warm when we went inside. Patrick, the landlord, went above and beyond. He was waiting for us when we came down for breakfast and even gave us a lift to the wedding we were attending. We left very early on our last day and the team even prepared us a basket breakfast as we were too early for breakfast time. As tea-a-holic our room had a kettle and lots of tea bags and milk which was great.

This establishment met all expectations - actually exceeding any expectations - this is the most pretty, welcoming and professionally run pub, bed and breakfast and is definitely a place i would recommend. The Management and staff were helpful and considerate, they went out of their way to provide us with a meal despite us arriving late and the kitchen being closed. This is a beautiful find and one I would love to return to.
